Elefante Volador, “the Flying Elephant,” is the most remote Airbnb Tulum villa on this list, located within the Sian Ka’an Biosphere. It has space for up to 6 guests, with a pair of bedrooms just off its main palapa living space and the master bedroom located on a second-floor mezzanine. The home is owned by artists, which is immediately evident in its decor and artistic touches throughout.
The villa has a rooftop deck for sunrise and sunset views over the sea and the jungle canopy. But the real star of Elefante Volador is its gorgeous private beach, with no other homes in sight. The staff keeps the beach clean, and will also cook and provide light housekeeping daily.
Elefante Volador is one of my personal favorite stays, and I recommend it for anyone who wants a truly secluded escape in an unspoiled natural setting. An SUV or AWD vehicle is recommended due to the rough roads in the biosphere, and be sure to pick up groceries on your way through Tulum, or have the staff stock the home for you.
Recent guest review: Giuli’s place is truly a hidden gem… Not only does it have three incredible bedrooms and an indoor/outdoor living room, you have your own private beach. The housekeepers Gabby and Alex are diligent in cleaning the beach and house every morning and are some of the nicest people I’ve met. They are also incredible cooks…. After spending three days here, I can truly say that it was far more relaxing and special than any of the experiences I had in Tulum. One recommendation is that you should definitely rent a mid-size or large-size SUV as the road can be quite rocky from Tulum (about 1-hour drive). The benefit is that once we got there, we didn’t have to go back into town again, as the housekeepers were willing to go buy us groceries, etc. Highly recommend!!!

Many first-time visitors to Tulum are surprised by its Eco-chic sensibilities. Tulum tourism has grown significantly in the last 10 years, straining utility services that supply the hotels of the Beach Road.
